Gather Your Supplies
Replacing a shower can be an intimidating task, but it does not have to be. Before starting the project, take some time to gather all the supplies you’ll need. To replace a shower, you will need to buy a new shower, a shower base, a shower arm, a shower head, and any other necessary plumbing supplies. Additionally, you may want to purchase a few tools such as a screwdriver, a drill, and a wrench.
Install the Shower Base
The first step in replacing a shower is to install the shower base. This is typically a simple process that requires you to measure the space and cut the base to fit. Once the base is cut, you will need to attach it to the wall using screws. Make sure to use the appropriate screws for the material of your wall, such as drywall screws for drywall and concrete screws for concrete.
Install the Shower Arm and Shower Head
After the base is installed, it is time to install the shower arm and shower head. First, you will need to attach the shower arm to the wall using screws as well. Make sure to use screws that are appropriate for the material of your wall. Next, you will need to connect the shower arm to the shower base. This typically requires the use of a wrench. Finally, attach the shower head to the shower arm and use a wrench to tighten it. You may need to use plumbers tape or pipe sealant to ensure a water-tight connection.
Connect the Plumbing
The final step in replacing a shower is to connect the plumbing. This requires you to connect the shower arm to the water supply lines. This is typically done by using a wrench to attach the plumbing fittings to the water supply lines. Make sure to use the appropriate fittings for your plumbing type. Additionally, you may need to use plumbers tape or pipe sealant to ensure a water-tight connection.
Test Your Work
Once the plumbing is connected and all the pieces are installed correctly, it is time to test your work. Turn on the water and inspect the entire system for any leaks or other issues. If there are any problems, make sure to address them before using the shower. Additionally, it is a good idea to check the pressure of the water to make sure it is adequate. Once you have tested the system, you are ready to start using your new shower!
