Outdoor showers are becoming increasingly popular as people seek to add a touch of luxury to their outdoor living areas. Whether it is a small backyard or a larger outdoor area, having an outdoor shower is a great way to cool off during the summer months and enjoy the fresh air. Building an outdoor shower can be a fun and rewarding project, and with a few simple steps, you can have an oasis in your own backyard.

Gathering Materials

Before you can begin building your outdoor shower, you’ll need to gather the necessary materials. Depending on the size and complexity of the shower you plan to build, you may need to purchase some specialized items. Here are some of the items you’ll need to build an outdoor shower:

  • Outdoor shower enclosure
  • Hot and cold water supply lines
  • Showerhead and handle
  • Shower valve and trim
  • Shower drain
  • Tile or other waterproofing material
  • PVC piping
  • Silicone sealant
  • Caulk
  • Outdoor-grade electrical wiring (if you plan to add lighting or other electrical components)

Installing the Shower Enclosure

Once you have all the necessary materials, you can begin installing the shower enclosure. The enclosure should be placed in a location that is sheltered from the wind, and away from any trees or other sources of debris. You’ll need to level the ground before installing the enclosure, making sure that it is even and flat.

Once the enclosure is in place, you can begin connecting the hot and cold water supply lines. These lines should be connected to the shower valve and trim, and then routed through the wall of the enclosure. You should use PVC piping and silicone sealant to ensure a watertight connection.

Adding the Finishing Touches

Once the plumbing is complete, you can begin adding the finishing touches to your outdoor shower. First, you’ll need to tile the walls and floor of the enclosure. This will help to protect the enclosure from the elements, and will also make it easier to keep clean. Make sure to use waterproofing materials and caulk around the edges of the tiles to ensure a watertight seal.

Next, you’ll need to install the showerhead and handle, as well as the shower valve and trim. Make sure all of these components are properly sealed, and that the water supply lines are securely connected. Finally, you’ll need to install a shower drain to ensure proper drainage.

Enjoying Your Outdoor Shower

Once your outdoor shower is complete, you can enjoy the luxury of having a private oasis in your backyard. Whether you use it to cool off after a long day of work or to relax on a warm summer night, your outdoor shower will provide you with hours of pleasure.
