Mold in your shower grout can be an unsightly and difficult problem to tackle. Luckily, there are a few easy methods that you can use to remove the mold and keep it from coming back.

1. Clean the Grout With Vinegar

Vinegar is a great all-purpose cleaner for removing mold from shower grout. Start by mixing one part vinegar with one part water in a spray bottle. Then, spray the solution onto the grout and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. After the allotted time, use an old toothbrush to scrub the grout and remove the mold. Once you’ve finished scrubbing, rinse the area with clean water.

2. Use Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

If the vinegar solution doesn’t work, you can try a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste. Start by mixing 1/2 cup of baking soda with 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide. Stir the mixture until it forms a thick paste. Then, apply the paste to the grout and let it sit for 10 minutes. After the allotted time, scrub the area with an old toothbrush and rinse with clean water.

3. Use Bleach

If the vinegar and baking soda solutions don’t work, you can try using bleach to remove the mold. Start by mixing one cup of bleach with one gallon of water in a bucket. Then, use a sponge to apply the solution to the grout. Let the solution sit for 15 minutes and then scrub the area with an old toothbrush. Once you’ve finished scrubbing, rinse the area with clean water.

4. Use a Steam Cleaner

If you want to remove mold from shower grout without using harsh chemicals, you can use a steam cleaner. The steam cleaner will use hot steam to kill the mold spores and loosen the dirt and grime. Start by filling the steam cleaner with water and plugging it in. Then, use the steam cleaner’s nozzle to apply the hot steam to the grout. After the steam has done its job, use a clean cloth to wipe away the dirt and grime.

5. Prevent Mold From Coming Back

Once you’ve removed the mold from your shower grout, it’s important to take steps to prevent it from coming back. Start by cleaning the shower on a regular basis. Make sure to use a mild cleaner that won’t damage the grout. You should also make sure to repair any leaks or cracks in the grout as soon as possible. This will help keep the area dry and prevent mold from growing.
